Happy Chinese Valentines, Qi Xi Jie (Qi Qiao Jie)

I'm sure most of us weren't aware that today is our Chinese Valentine's Day. Also known also Qi Xi or Qi Qiao Jie.
You may not be familar with this festival, but the term 牛郎织女 will be familar to most of us right?

I didn't know that we celebrated this day on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. Now i'm starting to wonder why that 7th lunar month? ain't it supposed to be hungry ghost month? why allowing them to meet only in such a scary month of the so many 12 months to choose from??

They weren't even ghost to begin with, apparently both were fairies or rather in a different version, Zhi Nu is a fairy.
Did a search on this festival, apparently there were 2 versions of the stories.

Below story taken from XihaLife.com

History, version 1

According to the first version, the seven daughters of the Goddess of Heaven caught the eye of a Cowherd during one of their visits to earth. The daughters were bathing in a river and the Cowherd, Niu Lang, decided to have a bit of fun by running off with their clothing. It fell upon the prettiest daughter (who happened to be the seventh born), to ask him to return their clothes.

Since Niu Lang had seen the daughter, Zhi Nu, naked, they had to be married. The couple lived happily for several years. Eventually however, the Goddess of Heaven became fed up with her daughter's absence, and ordered her to return to heaven. However, the mother took pity on the couple and allowed them to be reunited once a year. Legend has it that on the seventh night of the seventh moon, magpies form a bridge with their wings for Zhi Nu to cross to meet her husband.

History, version 2

In the second version, Niu Lang and Zhi Nu were fairies living on opposite sides of the Milky Way. Feeling sorry for the two lonely sprites, the Jade Emperor of Heaven actively tried to bring them together. Unfortunately, he succeeded too well - Niu Lang and Zhi Nu became so enraptured with each other that they neglected their work. Annoyed, the Jade Emperor decreed that from that point on, the couple could only meet once a year - on the seventh night of the seventh moon. And so today, star gazers celebrate Qi Qiao Jie by gazing up at the star Vega, east of the Milky Way which represents Zhi Nu, and at the constellation Aquila, on the west side of the Milky Way, where Niu Lang waits for his lover to join him.

I remember Mama telling me the version 2 story before when i was young.
Whether it's true anot, well indeed it was a sad story, imagine being able to see your partner only once a year!!
and sorry, this absence will not make the heart fonder, it defnitely makes the heart WANDER!

So people, treasure your love ones~!!!
If you think your partner is getting sticky, think again! there are those who wished to be by their partner side and yet can't do so.

Count your blessings~!!
And for the kukus out there, sorry but on this Chinese Festival, Chinese do not do gifts exchange like the Western way~!

Apparently, girls used to make offerings to Zhi Nu on that day, and it's also a day for girls to exhibit their embroidery or sewing skills, but these days, i think no need la.
Hardly any girls i know can sew...(perhaps you can, but neat anot is a different story)

ok end of story. FULL STOP! ahahaha

Snippets @ Work

it's friday again! just sharing some funny snippets @ work.
as i've been collating research data from our kids manga publication - COCO! magazine, i've been opening the mails sent in.

that's how much "Fan Mails" we can get in a day, at least 30..

Kids are really cute that simple things they does can just brighten up your day, other then reading the funny comments they make or surprising you with weird items they'd include in the envelop such as a nicely folded PLASTIC BAG! that made me burst out laughing or a stapled newspaper cut out to protect their form. lolx...

This 11 year old boy, actually wrote a composition in too, sharing with us how he spent his National Day. and his composition is hilarious la!
the naiveness and directness from a kid.

He even made an effort to decorate it with stickers! what a detailed composition of what he did the whole day from making a call to his cousin to the eating tidbits after playing play station and 'happily littering' around.
I'm glad he had fun littering about at home, lets hope that he didn't kena from his mum later the day.

and this part when i read out loud, all of my colleagues were laughing!

"because the cake is like two A4 size paper! lolx...our writer replied '2 A4 size paper makes it an A3 my dear" ahahhaahah...

Kids never failed to amuse and amaze me.

At the end of his composition, he was writing about how badly he really like one of the lucky draw prizes and asked if he could have them.

For being such a polite kid that brighten up our day, Yes boy, you'll get the prize you really wanted. =)

The Long Weekend = Coin Dozer!

LOLx, somehow i got pretty hooked on this game, trying to hit the 10k score...so i spent most of my national day evening playing on this game that Mr. Bf has to asked me to STOP! ahahh..

Not sure if the game platform wasn't catered to you achieving more than 4 digits coins hence corner of the figures were being cut off. so yea i managed to up my score from 4k to 7k and then to a 8k and finall 10k!! Wootzz.....
Many were asking how i managed to do it? simple!!
Just play loh! lol de more u play, the more rewards were being unlocked and there's how you get to get more coins! especially with the extra coins in coin shower!!

All my long weekend was catered for Mr. Bf.....didn't do much other than catching "Inception" - yes i know very late lah! but the tickets were selling like hot cakes before!!
so we head on down to Film Garde @ Kallang to catch the show!

it's gonna be our next hang out i guess, given the fact that it's so much less crowded there!
and actually also cos there's this hobbyist shop that sells animes figurines, they have tons n tons of collection man!

Well, don't have to further explain why were we there lah hor...???

Lovely, simple long weekend, but it's enough to keep Drea happy!

Furthermore, it was also our........

First month together! hehz...even though it's only a month, but it felt as if we've been together for a while. wonder if that's a good or bad thing.

Nevertheless, Drea loves the stability feeling from it....& she loves how comfy she felt with Mr. Bf...not to mentioned how pampered Drea gets when she's with him.
Snacks, food and drinks all served right up to below my nose, all Drea got to do was...."can i have my cold cold ribena please???? "
and VOILA! cold cold ribena appears in front of me within a minute! Hahaha
MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok now i know why there's this song called Love Like Magic! lolx...

Dinner @ Lei Garden, Chjimes

I've never been to Lei Garden @ Chjimes, it's really quite an Atas place, if it's not for our Japanese Boss who's in town, i'd probably not know of this place at all..hehz..

The decos are so nice, it's very much like a Chinese food served in a westernised size.
Most of the customers were all business people with like more than 50% non locals, lots of Japanese there, it was a no wonder they added ingredients like Wagyu Beef and Japanese canopies in their dishes.

And the food there is superb! very very nice!! almost everything we'd ordered is yummy.
The sharks fin alone is "Power" enough. you get to see the actual fins in your bowl and there's chunks of REAL crab meat inside too! not crabsticks hor.

and the best part of it was, there's a bottle of red wine that comes complimentary with the $198 10 course dinner that we'd ordered.
Didn't get to see a bottle of the wine though but it's uber smooth.

The dessert was some hawaiin papaya stewed in duno what, you can see in the bottom right pic above, it very much tasted like sweet potato though, can't tell that it's papaya at all.

Sorry didn't managed to snap pics on all the dishes, reckon not very nice la with boss around so i just took a few shots discreetly.

For those looking at a nice chinese restaurant with good ambience to bring your overseas friend to, i'd highly recommend Lei Garden @ Chjmes!

THe minus point is the car park charges @ $10 per entry though.ZZzzz =_____=

Nightmare~!! Lolx

There's this little toy device from Masked Rider that makes a hell lot of NOISE when you press the button.

Mr. Bf got one of those and i still remember every button he pressed, it actually says a sentence or something that apparently came from the characters in the show...he was irritating me the whole night with that toy which apparently he got so excited with that i reckon he can hug it to sleep.

This nightmare toy was etched in my memory to date and guess what? i was reading through the comments from our COCO! readers and i saw this!

Mr. Bf's "Good Friend" loh this one, i should introduce them together. apparently this boy loves Kamen Rider (Masked Rider) so much that he loves this toy TOO!!! Grrr my nightmare came back all of a sudden. and i thought this was already enough guess what??

I saw a different version being featured on our latest August issue. FAINTZZZZZZzzzzz

On a much lighter note, this sweet little boy drew this....

so cuteeeee....drawings like these are much more pleasing to the eye then drawing that 'irritating noisy' toy loh...buahahaahaha

Tuesday = Terrible / Tulan Tuesday

my colleague taught me this, and it came true today, what a terrible tuesday...

ok maybe not that terrible just feeling sianz, must be the cramps and aches.
wonder if i'm getting older, my lower back been giving me problems, it's strained way too easily.
you know like somewhere near the spine at your lower back there, or when i lie down for quite a while and sit up, i can feel the strain as though i've just sprained it. geez..

Shooting cock sessions might be called off for the time being, not to mentioned i'm getting bored of it too.

wana regain back my healthy high fibre cereal with milk breakie diet once again to build back the calcium a little, was kind of looking fwd to end of de day for a shopping spree at NTUC...but den...=( =( =(..

i hate tuesdays.

Weekend came a little early...

ok i think my blog is becoming a little like a weekly update. hehz..
Weekend came a little early last week cos i was on afternoon leave...
went to Holland V to have a late lunchiee and catch up session with sweetie bff just before she start work the following week. (like finally after she nua-ed for a yr plus lolx.)

damn shiok to have a hot cuppa on a rainy friday

and when night falls, we went for a Durian Fiesta with the Ingram guys!! yummyzz!! all the Mao Shan Wang & D24, the boss was saying now is in season or something and cos Mama Leona knew the guy we ate like 7 of the durians and it only cost $110. woohoo what a STEAL!!

hehez de ladies!!! ladies one side, men one side lolx

De only not so good thing for the weekend was that Mr.Bf (previously known as 怪叔叔) gotta work this weekend..=(
reckon i'd better change his name to something nicer like Mr. Bf cos he deserves a nicer sounding nick than 怪叔叔. ahahaaha

even though he needs to work on both the weekend, that didn't stop us from spending time together...or rather, he made an extra effort to spend some time with me..hehehe...
Drea wakiee early and had breakiee with Mr. Bf before he leaves for work...whilst i continue my nua-ing at home..hehez..

that's my 七彩粥 at the market @ TPY..yummyzz...

The gd thing was, Mr. Bf managed to finish work relatively early and there's this Toy Fair going on at Taka, knowing he sure want to go one la, we ended there...
Duh, the power of love, else i'd just give town a miss on weekends loh.
but Drea didn't regret going....i've managed to buy toy toy for BB Zavier tooo!!! ( scroll dwn for de pic later ya...)

Managed to catch The Sorcerer's Apprentice with Mr. BF thereafter to wrap up our saturday night. the show is pretty funny hehez and the popcorn at Lido is by far the best i've tried loh, GV's one sucks, the cathay one at cathay is even worse! it tasted like styrofoam...

and that's not all~! Drea wakieee early in the morning on Sunday again for anor breakiee with Mr. Bf before he leaves for work..hehezz... Drea ish 24 "xiao" gf lehz....*proudz*

Thank god i'd my little bf to keep me company on a lonely sunday whilst Mr. Bf is working his ass off....(ok that sounded kinda wrong lolx.)

Tadah my Princey Zavier BOY!!! the toys at the top right corner was what i bought for BB Zavier, look at how happily he smiled..hehez..

he wasn't that much of a good boy yesterday loh despite the cooling weather, he hardly slept, mum have to try putting him on my bed to see if it helps him sleep longer, and ya, u guess it, putting him on my bed means i didn't get to nap in the super shiok weather....i was trying to watch finish my 寻秦记 and keeping an eye on him at the same time.

before i knew it, his eyes were wide open again!! Drea ish a good 姑姑 who doesn't believe in spoiling the baby, so most of the time i'd just leave him on my bed or at the babycot unless he start to make tons of noise...

Alrighty that sums up another simple weekend....heez....Drea ish still feeling blessed and contented with what i have, what more can i ask for...=)
and check this out, my new wallpaper in my phone...*blushes*** WAhahahahah
