Taiwan Trip

Hee..finally after a long wait..erm not much photos taken also. it's like a working trip afterall..
overall, probably only took like few photos with human inside..LOL..

Landed in Taipei in de afternoon on the first day..as the timing was like 3plus, neither here nor there, we have a day to relax! Yippie!!!!

Oh, there's like 4 of us who went to Taipei this time round, another product person in charge of Hanns products, our GM and our channel sales manager. More people as they have a meeting with Hanns in Taiwan as well.

it's my very first time in Taiwan...we've decided to head on to XiMenDing, since it was such a much talked about place..

here is where we had our first meal...one of the typical stalls u always see on TV esp on Jacky Wu's shows..lol

that's what we ate..i tried some noodle thingy called duno simi Geng sth...and..erm..its not nice...
de rest ate ths "Kongba" rice or sth...think they were saying it's quite nice..
oh but that plate of vege is really beri nice!!!

the ice kachang there is like you pick ur own ingredients and amount, then they do the ice for you..not bad..but a little too sweet...

so this is XiMenDing..on a wet day...it's rainy season when we're there and it's been raining everyday before we arrive..

tadah! my Fav!! grill cuttlefish...u get to choose ur own fish den the uncle there will grill it for you...smells super nice!! ya..i say smell cos i din get to try...haha..too full already!

that's so much for de first day..ooh there's this tomatoe thingy where they insert a plum inside each cherry tomato..it tastes super duper nice!! my FAVE!!!

alrighty, after de 1st day it's all back to work...so we made our separate ways accordingly, 2 of us to the Computex trade fair and 2 to their meeting..

not convenient to post up Computex photos...trade secrets ya noe.lol....

hee..that's the Taipei 101! supposedly famous landmark of taipei...which erm..stupide me duno abt it..till GM mentioned that the trade fair we're going to is next to Taipei 101..and cos there's an earthquake de day b4 we left for taipei, he jokingly ask us to just go to 101 if there's an earthquake..get to the top level..so that if the building collapse, at least we'll be on top of all de debris..-_-


ooh one thing, the taiwanese are really hospital people! very warm to their guest and one of the very good hosts i've ever met..
throughout our 3 nights there, they made sure that they'll come and meet us at night to bring us for dinner or to walk around etc...amidst their super duper busy schedule and the fact that they have alot of overseas customers around as well!

Of course, after their meeting which ended like at 7plus...they brought us to this place

guess what is this place?

it's the entrane of the Chinese Fusion food restaurant! there's a "ji guan" somewhere hidden in the lamp...for you to open de door.

decor was very nice...very fusion. ..great svc..and interesting food.
there's this ice cream made of tofu! quite special...erm sorry no pics taken..reckon it's like damn rude to go snapping photos with like other bosses around? hee...

ya like real, as if we've so much leisure time to really go sightseeing...LOL..
we took their "bullet train" to Tainan, where one of their factories were.

tada...remember Hanns.spree? where we carry all designer lcd tvs, like apple shaped tvs, pig, firetruck...etc etc..

that's some of de decor in their factory...so nice! and by right no photos are supposed to be taken inside..hee..

and ya one thing i must comment..most of the toilets in taipei is like pretty clean!! much much cleaner than singapore's!!! floors are all clean and dry an totally no smell..i haven seen a smelly or dirty toilet in taipei yet!

the toilet in Tainan's train station is even better! look!

they even have toilet seat covers for u! to be flushed into the toilet bowl after using it..pretty cool aint it?

ok last night in taipei already..defnitely must go for my favourite food right?

tadah..we were brought to eat Mala Steamboat!!!!

and guess what's this? we're told this is the main reason y ppl come to here to eat the mala steamboat...

it's Duck blood~~!!!

ok overall i still prefer singapore's steamboat..hee.. their mala is really just mala..as in u only taste the spicy part..without any soup stock and all..
wherea's singapore's version, they'll mix say the chicken soup with the mala chilli so it's actually tastier...

our last meal in taipei before we leave for home~!

what a sumptuos breakie..hee..de cakes are super cheap there..it's like only $2 plus SGD and it's super nice..

ok all in all, i find this trip ok only..and find taipei average only. maybe it's cos we do not have enuff time to really explore and shop..

pretty disappointed as there has been really positive reviews about taiwan, abt shilin night market, ximending..Wufenpu..

been to these 3 places and find them..-_-. i've only bought like 3 necklaces for myself and that's abt it. i've never been on a trip be it work or leisure, buying so little items!!!!

and i seldom have leftover currencies from my trips..but i still have like SGD100 bucks left from this taipei trip...

ooh, okok i've been back for almost 2 weeks...but was pretty busy with work and nua-ing when i was not working..

and..the laptop i have at home doesn't have photoshop installed..so give me more time for de taiwan photos ok?

juz a piece of good news to share....hee..

as you guys can see, Drea is like putting on weight every time you see her...and she is determined to bring all this to a stop.

She made a promise to herself never to let her weight cross 60kg and never let the waist cross 30..

so Drea stick to a dieting plan! it's by far the most effective i've ever tried..
to try to keep a carbo-free diet!!!

well it's quite difficult to go totally carbo free..maybe for the first few days..but i started eating some carbo thereafter...maybe like half a bowl of rice or noodle for lunch..for dinner, it's usually soup and side dishes...

it's been 3 weeks since i went on this diet and i've managed to lose 5kg!! woohooo!! and about 2 inches loss from my waistline...

guess it's all about determination and self control ya? hee..of cos to reward myself...i do snack still...some ice cream, some cakes...a lil tidbits here and there...

but in small quantity lah....*giggles*

it's Computex Taipei June 2008.

i've never been to Taiwan before and this is gona be my first time!
Leaving next tuesday, kinda excited to be in a country i've never been to and to go to a tradeshow i've never attended before too.

but at the same time kinda sian when i'm just going there for work, tight schedule, rushing like mad and it sure gona be tiring like hell!

it'd be great if i were there with my frenz or mr.blk for leisure instead of the bosses!!

juz hope that i'll at least have some time at night for shopping!
will only be there for less than 4 days...

not bad hor, i've been travelling like every few months...LOL..
managed to siam HK trade show last april...heng!

new hair style!!

so yea..got sick of my hair..how i look and all...so it's back to PERM! hehe

cos i like it, i want to look different and rebond doesnt suits me due to my fat round face n miserable few strands of hair i have..

the first day after the perm..i look nice.......and dolly.the curls were neat...

and then..it start to look messy!!

aargh thou shalt spend more effort in maintaining my curls!!

finally to de dog run!!!

hehe yesterday finally brought de dogs to de dog run!
not just 1..not 2..but 3 of them!!!!

i ish so happy..at least tabbie ish so happy it's been so long since i brought him out..
hmm shld have brought camera to take photos...

but mei mei and gigi still prefer to stick among themselves than interact with other dogs..hee..
wow talking about that..haven reach dog run only gigi already no more energy le..

once reach there she's only interested in acting cute in front of humans and standing in de middle of the pavement, asking for attention from humans..lol

ok next time round gona take photos of de 3 of them together..kinda chaotic in de car though..lol

dun have tabbie's photo in this com...so...dui bu qi tabbie le...
maybe i am still so blessed afterall...*giggles**

i think i'm becoming very lonely..

suddenly i felt that there has been so many things i would like to do..but it seems like it's been so difficult getting down to doing it..
i would love to bring the dogs or even tabbie alone to the dog run
i would love to spend a day at tanjong beach with the dogs
i would love to spend one of de weekends blading at east coast

but i chose to waste my life and weekend away

suddenly i felt that there's been a lost of life..

suddenly i felt that there's no direction in life anymore..

i'm getting bored...real bored.

Love Language #2: Quality Time

My version of #1 is really summarized, in face gary chapman included a case study and some notes for all of us to take note off, but it's not polite for me to palagarize everything in my blog.

So for those of you who's really keen, do read this book ok?

Now let's get to #2: Quality time.

How many times you hear this? "it's quality over quantity!!" if u think u've spent enuff time with ur partner and why is she still not satisfied, then think again? how did you spend the time together?

were you talking to her while reading the papers? were you talking to her while watching tv? is that considered time spent with her without paying 100% attention on her?

By quality time, its means giving someoned your UNDIVIDED ATTENTION.
it doesn't mean sitting on the sofa watching tv and talking, but with the tv off, both looking at each other, giving the 100% full attention, talking!
it means going for a walk, just the 2 of you, going for dinner and looking at each other when you eat with the conversation going on.

When u sit on de sofa talking to ur partner , giving her 20 minutes of ur full attention and she does likewise, you're giving each other 20 mins of your life, and u'll never have this 20 minutes again! it is a powerful communicator of love.

There's this case study of a husband who is too busy with work than to spend time with his wife, then Gary Chapman asked him a question that probably got him thinking when he's telling Gary how he climbed the organizational ladder to feed the family:

"Do you want to be up there alone? or do you want to be there with your wife and children?"

how many times have we used work as an excuse to spending time with our loved ones? now think again, even if u are a high flyer, what's the point when u have no loved ones around you?

" A Central Aspect of Quality time is Togetherness
I do not mean proximity
Togetherness has to do with focused attention"

and of cos gary suggested him to take time off to bring his wife and children out etc. their love life made a tremendous improvment! his wife is no longer always nagging at him and being unhappy and seeing his work as a threat.

There's anor story whereby a man approached gary and told him what a fool he realised he was.

His wife will always come home from work, telling him her problems at work, and he will always advise her on what he think she should do"

now u guyz are thinking nothing wrong with that right?

everynite de same thing happened, naturally de man is upset with his wife for not listening to his advice. He told her not to expect anymore sympathy from him since she refused to heed his advice and she would not have to live with these problems if she heed his advices.

the next time she try to bring up the problem, he told her that he is not going to listen to her since she's not following his advice.

After the divorce, then he realised that his wife did not want advice from him when she tell him his problems
she wanted sympathy, wanted him to listen to her, to give her attention, to let her know he understand the hurt and pressure she's going through, she need that moral support and re assureness from her husband.

Is this situation familar? it's very familar and close to my heart, de whole of chapter 2 actually.
i love to whine and i'm always very critical, but when i'm whining, sometimes i just need some sympathy and reassurance.
then again, who is there to understand the need? who is there to provide the undivided attention for me?

"many of us are trained to analyze problems and create solutions
we forgot that marriage is a relationship, not a project or problem to be solved"

The last of this chapter talks about quality activities, there will be different activities that a couple enjoys.
but it doesnt hurt to give in to each other and do what each other like to do together.

well i played WOW for de very obvious reasons, he's crazy over them and spent so much time with the game.
before i started to play, i can see that he is really hoping that one of these days i can play together with them.

and so i did in the end..so as to do something i know he'd enjoy.

sth to sharea: The 5 Love Languages

as we're starting to plan really really slowly for our future, my bro intro this book to me for married couples.



Thought it was quite a good book just that such books are always soooo boring and dry.
So i'm gona take my own sweet time to read and i do believe that most of you will find the pointers useful BUT probably not the patience and time to read right?
Mr. Black for once will never read such books..

so i've decided to summarise each chapter and to share with you guyz on some pointers..

Intro: Keeping De Love Tank Full

"At the heart of mankind's existence is the desire to be intimate and to be loved by another
Marriage is designed to meet that need for intimacy and love"

The writer believed that everyone has a need for love and classified there's basically 5 basic love langauges for each individuals.

Keeping one's emotional love tank full is as important to a marriage as maintaining the proper oil level is to an automobile. Running your marriage on an empty "love tank" could cost more than trying to drive ur car w/o oil.

Chapter 1: Love Language #1 Words of Affirmation

Writer, Gary Chapman, belives that one way to express love emotionally is to use words to build up.
Verbal compliments, words of appreciation are powerful communicators of love..

this i strongly agree!@@!
even simple words such as " you look good in that dress" "i really appreciate u doing the dishes tonight" etc works wonders!

and i'd think especially to women. we've such soft ears and we love to hear such things all the time.

"The object of love is not getting sth you want, but doing sth for the well being of the one you love
It is a fact, however that when we receive affirming word we are then far more likely to be motivated to reciprocate"

how many of us are guilty of taking our partner for granted? i hope you'd take this phrase into heart and rembr, a simple compliment makes the other party feels appreciated and in fact more like to reciprocate!

no doubt we always do things willingly for the well being of our loved ones, and what else is the best way to "reward" us? nothing but a simple compliment does wonders!!!

I'd say simple thank yous to mr. black for the genting trip he's planned, and told him that i really appreciated the effort he's put in planning all these.
u noe, its juz small lil simple things like this..

and of cos i'm still learning.........there're still times i took him for granted.

And of cos, other than just compliments, give your spouse encouraging & kind words as and when they need!

nothing spur them more than their own partner's encouragement.

sometimes i'd have doubts on my job and the ability to perform to standard and do it well.
but mr. black was there, encouraging me, guiding me, having faith in me that i could make my product fly and painting the picture of how everything will be like for me when my products start to fly!

So rembr, simple compliments does wonders to ur relationship! even a simple thank you, i appreciate ur work makes ppl melt at times.....

this is kinda wordy so chapter 1 shall stop here now..look out for de nxt chapter ya?
