alcoholics

image from http://www.zwani.com/graphics/alcohol/images/alcohol73.jpg

used to be so much of a regular drinker and got out of it.
was chatting with someone who managed to finally get out the the night scene, converting into an office hour job but under the same company as well..

he used to complain on how much he has to drink as part of the job, now he has a choice (or not really)
he actually still goes down every fri and sat.. but now he says "cos now no need to work on fri and sat so can go down drink le loh.."

eh what's the difference sia?

Men and their drinks...
drinking occasionally is fine, making it a habit ain't healthy. especially we all see what's going on with men drinking...

Why are people hooked on the weekly drinking sessions they have with their buddies?
Does alcohol inject life into you or does it drain life away from you?

at least i'm glad i got out of it!!

then again, i was being tempted with Nectarie! promised a healthier catching up at nectarie instead..but you see, NEctarie is just outside Lunar, so it's a potentially dangerous zone!!

Tokyo Business Trip

Was in Tokyo last week for work..it's meetings and more meetings.
Quite a tiring trip it is with no time to shop at all, well most dinner meetings end at 9plus, 10 at night, by then most shops has closed.
Furthermore after the disaster that struck Japan in March, measures has been taken to help conserve energy.
This including minimizing the air conditioning in most buildings and switching off the air-conditioning for certain hours...

gosh, weather's getting really warm in Tokyo and imaging reaching the office without much air-conditioning...eh..

*salutes the locals*

Anyway just some snippets i managed to capture while rushing from meetings to meetings..

Tadah! chanced upon this store! lol i'm sure alot of guys would love to step in...no chance to do so though..

a lovely, french-style cafe for breakie! the tuna toast is yummy! very similar to the kind of thick toast we eat at the HK cafes but 100 times softer and crispier!

another scene captured at one of the popular kopi place called Donutr in Tokyo. Is it so safe in Tokyo that they can use their mobile phones to chop seats instead of packets of tissue paper like what Singaporeans do?

Well wishes or congratulatory flowers for opening of new offices...hmm they send white orchids. the whole lobby looks so solemn with the rows of white orchids and they reminded me of funerls...with those wooden planks with words written on top man.

Snippets of one of the dinners, it was a yummy yakitori dinner.. The Tsukune above is actually chicken meat, and then you dip it in the half boiled egg to eat..very yummy!!! BBQ gingko nut is equally delicious!

@ another dinner, there is where i had an overdose of the daily sashimis...=___= anyway the chilled sake is nice and sweet!!
and the baby ginger was something unique, never tried anything like this back in S'pore. pretty refreshing i must say..

pass by this place while on the way to lunch...

Oh and i love this instant kopi that the hotel provides. quite innovative right? a mini-drip kopi!

a mini landscape at one of the traditional Japanese restaurant. Love the spring bloom...so pretty!

The green matcha tasted so different in Tokyo too. Creamier and so much tastier!
one of our meetings ended early so we had time for a short tea-break before moving on to the next meeting.

Here is where one of our licensor, TV Asahi's office is situated at...very pretty buildings! actually the prettiest part was the brown bricks walls that made it look like a castle. but the trees were blocking the best part!

Was staying in Mitsui Garden, Ginza. A business hotel for the 5 days. Not bad, i mean it's really a business, business hotel.
Room is cosy, neat and comfy, perfect for business. like ya i mean real work, real business.
Cosy enough for a 1 pax without leaving you the empty, lonely, scary feel.

I always have this thing about staying alone in hotel, it kind of creeps me out especially when you are in the bathroom. but this hotel's great, doesn't give me much of those creepy feelings.

Taking a look at some of the amenities, they even have Shiseido make up remover, facial cleanser, toner and face moisturiser for you! pretty impressive i must say
and i absolutely love the face & hand soap. it's a foaming soap!! you pump out the foam and use, so mild, so gentle on your skin.
On the lower right side that's the panel from the bath room, you can choose to make it totally transparent so you can watch tv while in the bath or poo-ing...lolx

perhaps it's the culture or perhaps it's the thoughtfulness.
They even provide bath tablets for you! i soak in baths almost daily , ultimately shiokness after a long, tiring day.
Tried the Rose bath and the lavendar bath..hehz...
Also the thing i love about hotel showers, the water's power really strong, not like our typical HDB, water jet no power one.

a small cosy little room.

Star wars with a Disney Theme. or rather, vice versa.

1 of the lunches, we have sashimi for almost every meals..gosh. extreme overdose on sashimi plus the fact that sometimes i don't even know what fish am i eating..or was it fish in the first place? hehz.
As the Japanese believe, premium sashimi is one of the best food to be served to guests, hence almost all of them brought us for premium sashimi....
It was so bad i nearly felt like puking and gotta eat it with so much ginger and wasabi to kill that sashimi taste man.

one the first day where we had a slightly time again in between meetings and the luxury of having kopi with desserts! the pancake with berries simply fantabulous. The pancake is so soft...woooo...blogging about it know makes me hungry.

oh tadah, so absoloutely 'act cute' pics of me. lol. but i kinda love these pics and how this silk scarf brightens up the whole look and act a touch of feminine to the whole look with a plain black dress. Bought this silk scarf at Mango sale for only $29!

view from my room during the day, and i sit facing Burberry's flagship store daily, with not much time to shop inside. Usually i'd buy blue labels whenever i'm in Tokyo. but this time round, i broke the record of not buying a single blue label!

That marks the end of my Tokyo Business Trip. I've never really enjoyed business trips as it's always tiring and makes you double busy before you leave for your trip and after you come back.
Contrary to what most people thing, travelling for business ain't as fun as it seems. You hardly have enough personal time to shop and have fun, so don;t ever look at it like a holiday or something.

Not sure if that's the nature of my career, i often land in jobs needing to travel once in a while.
Well kind of lucky to get this kind of exposure though.

As long as it's not too frequent, once or twice a year, i guess i should be fine with it...

and oh i so very much wanted to share with you guys a piece of news on what i've been busy with other than work and nua-ing...and i actually created a blog for that as well..ahah shall share it when time is ripe.

that is when someone makes it official lolx...

Tokyo Business Trip

ok here we go again, after post-poning it the previous time in March due to the Tsunami, Drea's going Tokyo again for work...flying off next Monday and will be back on Friday...

gona be a long week of meetings, entertaining, and more meetings.

THe previous time i was kind of excited as I've never attended a anime fair in Tokyo before. Having seen the pictures and all the ra-ra with live shows, mascots and all, I can't wait to be there to experience it for myself.
it'll also boost my other project and aid in my work, meeting more licensors and getting to know more about new launches for this year.

The Tokyo Animation Fair has since been cancelled due to the disaster and my trip next week will mainly be on meetings and more meetings. Now that sound kinda dry ain't it?

Doubt there'll be time for much shopping, I can't wait to be home already!!

an evening of photo fun with iphone camera app TtV Basic

just downloaded this camera app for iphone and Drea ish loving its vintage, artsy fartsy effect..
it's FREE.

Check out its effect....plus these pics were taken when i'm in my uber comfy home wear...

can't bear leaving uncle Des out of the fun, even though he says that he's not in the mood for photo taking..lolx

and whilst Drea was happily snapping around, trying to get a nice, vintage, artsy shot of herself as a new Fb profile photo without looking too "hiao" or "act chio" (like the many FB pics you see from other girls...)

Uncle Des had his fair share of fun snapping a silly pic of me too...

oops, now my 'homely, comfy' pajamas is exposed...lolx...
just thought it's a funny pic to share with my friends..

Chili's & Random Updates!

ok, i should stop neglecting my blog...here's some random updates.

And oh finally went to try Chili's in Singapore. After trying the one in KL during my business trip, i had pretty high expectations of the food.
It was a pity we didn't get to try their signature beef dishes in KL as someone in the group doesn't take beef...so Drea made it a point to try the beef in Singapore!

Knowing bro is a beef lover as well, he happily agreed to join us at Chili's on Saturday.

of cos we tried their spicy minced beef bowl recommended by SY. ok la, not really recommended by her but seems to be her favourite or something.
It's really yummy! and perfect to go with their Tortilla chips. THey dont call it tortillas on their menu though, they called it Bottomless "something" sorry, can't remember.
anyway the good thing about the Bottomless tortilla chips, it's refillable!
What a great place to chill out with their weekday happy hour promo, a basket of bottomless tortilla chips at only $8.90 you can happily sit there and munch on that the whole night to go with your beer loh.

anyways, the mushroom fajita here is not as fantastic as the one i'd tried in KL. its very much less cheesy, affecting the overall taste.
But the rest of them finds it ok and quite yummilicious.

The servings at Chili's pretty big so you may want to do the same like us, order a few side plates and 1 or 2 mains to share.

Oh one thing, their Baby back ribs are very yummy! totally no pork taste. i'm not a fan of pork and yet i can accept the taste. ..so you can imagine how yummy it was.

Damage: $140++ for 4 pax. We ordered a jug of hoegarden that costs about $42.

Random updates

Time for some random updates:

BB Zavier is One already! time flies man, still remember a year ago, when i first joined my current company, he was just a new born!
Here's some snippets of his happy 1st Bday!

uncle des is missing from our family photo cos tt uncle went to pee whilst we're taking photo. =_____=

and here are some tokens of love with courtesy from uncle des;

this ish really pretty! Bling bling version of the bear in Pink! and it's made from quality 'swaroski' crystals, not the typical plastic, cheapo looking and less shiny kind you see at most of the shops around.
i've this hanging in my car for now..hehz..

something simple but filled with love...
the weather's been so warm lately that I've either of this in my bag almost everywhere i go..especially during lunch time! very handy and keeps you cool leh..ahaha

ok to end off the random updates, here's a pic of Bb zavier with one of his funny expressions again.

really wonder where he learnt it from. Definitely not from me ok, i don't make such ugly faces one loh.
He's never failed to surprise us with his pouts and funny faces..lolx

All is well

Maybe I'm kinda getting bored of blogging.. Or maybe my free time has been busy doing tons of research online.. I've since neglected this blog.
Anyways when time is ripe, there'll some news to share.
Drea gets bored easily and her excitement dies down as quickly as she gets as well.
Let's hope all is in place before the excitement dies down totally..
Warmest regards
Andrea

weight loss - how i did it...(yes again)

Image from
Well, after being with uncle des, Drea has put on almost all of the weight she once lost.
that's what being in love does to one i guess. i've no idea from the point in time that we're together, how much i weigh, i did put on couple of kilos before we're together, as compared to the massive weight loss I once went through and that was deemed as -unhealthy & haggard looking.
anyways in short, i've put on at least a massive 8-10kg.
ok, to be fair to my body, i've never been slim my whole life before i managed to lose the 13kg 2-3years back.

As such, I'm not aiming to get back to the slimmest, unhealthy point and I do think it is not possible to achieve that results anymore. During that time part of the factor that contributed to the massive weight loss was stress at work. other then being slim, my temper was at the worst point as well. Nah, i dun wana go through that anymore.

So to be healthy and looking average-sized. I've lost a 6kg over 2-3months. I'm aiming for another 4 more kg to go and work on a maintenance program from there.

Drea is definitely qualified to be classified as a "weight loss expert", after losing 13kg at its max and now i'm back at it again with a 6kg over 2-3months result.

The key to successful weight loss?
Cut your CARBO!

Most are not aware that we do not need as much carbo as what most of us, especially Asian eats.
Yes, a bowl of porridge or soup bee hoon may look innocent and healthy.
But do you know, if your body did not burn as much carbs as you've consumed, the sugar breakdown will be converted into fats gradually.

that very bowl of porridge or soup bee hoon will add on more fats to your body than your KFC chicken.

So what has Drea been eating?

Breakie: from wholemeal bread, i've changed my menu to just a hard boiled egg per day for breakie. and that's enough to keep you satiated till lunchtime. If you're worried about the cholestrol, you can remove half of an egg yolk, that's what i did.

Lunchie: to satisfy my body's craving for carbo, i do try to eat normal as in, your usual porridge, noodles etc. if i'm not feeling that hungry, i'd stick to a yong tau fu - without the mee or beehoon.

Dinner: this is the key, NO CARBO at all. I'm sure you've heard of how dinner after 8 makes u fat bla bla bla. same logic for this, i try to keep my dinner to a meat based like bbq chicken wing, satay, nuggets etc.

Of cos we're so used to consuming carbo for most of our meals and carbo actually has the same effect as what chocolate does. releases endorphin into your body and makes you feel satisfied.
Cutting out carbo completely will take a toll on your overall well being. So instead of strictly cutting out carbo, i merely reduce my intake.

also Drea has a soft spot for carbo la..pastries, cakes, tidbits...gosh..of cos i've been keeping them at bay and taking a small portion each time when i'm really craving for some.

the key is, eat anything you want, but not the full portion. if i'm taking ban mian for lunch, i usually eat about 1/2 to 2/3 of the portion.

keeping fingers crossed, i'm hoping to lose that 4kg more in another months time. stay tuned!!
